Meet the Team: Our Work

SHERRIE FLICK

Co-Founder

What made you decide to start/join a rescue team? I have such a love for animals and had no idea how many were in need of our help locally that when I was asked to help out I jumped right in, both feet!

What’s your favourite part about being part of a rescue team? To see the change, the progress, the trust, the confidence in the ones we bring in. The people we have met, the wonderful fosters. It’s good for the soul.

Outside of volunteer work, what do you like to do in your spare time? I like to hike, cross country ski, spend time with my family and friends, and with my little rescue friend Macey Grey:).

SHERRYL STOMP

Co-Founder

What made you decide to join a rescue team? The founder of Angels of Hope, Terry Tocker, invited Sherrie and I for tea and talked us into taking a more active role in her rescue.

What is your favourite part about being part of a rescue team? I love seeing the transformation of the animals we bring in. From being scared and thin and full of wood ticks to blossoming into the beautiful dogs and cats that they become.

Outside of volunteer work, what do you like to do in your spare time? First thing I have to ask… what is spare time? I enjoy spending time with my family, my dogs and my friends. My husband and I also enjoy travelling and try to go south for a week or two each winter. I also enjoy watching my grandson play hockey. I love spending time with my grandchildren. I’ve even taken them on a few rescue missions with me.

RAE-LYN BAX

Fundraising Coordinator

What made you decide to join a rescue team? I have always had a love for animals. I believe they deserve the same chance that people do at living a long, happy life in a loving home. I have also been involved in with different fundraisers over the years for other animal rescues, so when I was approached by Sherryl to be the fundraising coordinator for AOH, it just seemed fitting that I help.

What's your favourite part about being part of a rescue team? The best and most rewarding part about rescuing animals, is seeing their transformation from unhealthy, unwanted animals to healthy, loved pets.

Outside of volunteer work, what do you like to do in your spare time? I have many of my own furbabies at home that take up a lot of my spare time outside of volunteering. We have four large breed dogs, and four cats of our own. During the summer, we enjoy taking the dogs on hikes and swimming. During the winter, we take them to visit our families. We also own a couple goats, a few rabbits, and chickens.

What made you decide to join a rescue team? I've always absolutely loved animals. I was sick of turning a blind eye and trying not to think about suffering animals and decided to do something about it. For years, I've wanted to join a rescue team and when I realized I could help AOH in a way other than fostering, I was so excited!

What's your favorite part about being part of a rescue team? I love working together with like-minded, kind, and caring people. But most of all, I love being part of the reason an animal will never have to experience a life without love or a home again.

Outside of volunteer work, what do you like to do in your spare time? I'm currently working on my master's degree, so often I am doing homework! I also like to sing, play guitar, and spend time with my family and friends!
